Life International Taekwon-Do Federation
Life International Taekwon-Do Federation was established by our founding President Grand Master Han Sam Soo, an ITF pioneer who helped with the establishment of ITF Taekwon-Do under General Choi Hong Hi, Taekwon-Do`s founder. His wish for a democratic Federation that followed the ITF system created by its founder was the beginning of this Federation in 2021 and is the core of our constitution and by-laws.
In 2022 our constitution and by-laws were adopted by our founding member board of Executive members. These core values is what our Federation operate under.

LITF Mission Statement
Welcome to the Life International Taekwon-Do Federation (LIFE ITF). We would like to share who we are as an organization and hope you can see yourself as part of our Taekwon-Do family.
Our Purpose
LIFE ITF was founded by Grandmaster Han Sam Soo, a pioneer of ITF Taekwon-Do and a loyal student of General Choi Hong Hi. His vision was clear:
to preserve and promote the original Taekwon-Do as written in General Choi’s Encyclopedia, free from political influence and unnecessary constraints.
Our organization is built upon General Choi’s philosophy, technical standards, and traditions. We strive to model LIFE ITF after the original ITF style, in every way:
- Without political favouring
- Without excessive bureaucracy
- Not business-driven
While we avoid these common issues, we are an international standards organization—providing the structure and credibility that professional instructors expect.
What LIFE ITF Does Not Do
We believe in supporting instructors, not controlling them.
- We do not interfere with how a dojang owner operates their business.
- We do not dictate what martial arts suppliers you must or must not use.
- We do not restrict you from attending seminars or events hosted by other organizations.
- We do not mandate how you must teach—though we are always willing to offer guidance if asked.
Our Commitment
It is our duty—as an organization and as individual instructors—to carry forward the legacy that General Choi left for the world. Since his passing, this responsibility has only grown stronger. Our goal is to ensure his Taekwon-Do remains alive, authentic, and accessible long into the future.
We welcome schools that teach additional martial arts, provided that Taekwon-Do remains their primary identity.
Uniform Standards
To honour General Choi’s TKD, we maintain the dobok standards outlined in his Encyclopedia. We do not support the use of sensationalized uniforms—such as all-black, red, blue, or mixed-colour designs—because they do not reflect the founder’s intended tradition.
